2009 Spring Sprint Triathlon

This year’s Spring Sprint kicked off the multisport season for several Treasure Valley athletes that were excited to showcase their fitness! Over 300 participants set a new record.  It is great to see more people getting the triathlon bug!

The Spring Sprint is a super fun race with a 750 yard pool swim on Friday.  On Saturday morning they start the clock at 0:00 and when you see your swim time flash on the clock you head to T1 and hop on your bike for a 20 kilometer jaunt down Hill Road.  Returning to Camel’s Back Park for T2 commences a 5 kilometer run through the foothills trails.

Don’t forget the Youth (under 17) race with a 200 yard swim, 5 mile bike, and 1 mile run.  Congratulations to this year’s winners Nathan Showalter and Lauren Smith.

It turned out to be one of those spring days that had everyone lingering outside soaking up some friendly sunshine.  For me the race went well and was a slim 20 seconds slower than last year’s time.  However, last year this was my 3rd or 4th race, where as this year it was my opener.  Mr. Liby put the heat on by eating into my 1:40 lead off the swim…look for some fast races from him this year.  Decker Rolph rounded out the top 3 with a strong closing run.
